Spruce Up The Exterior/Interior of Your Home
If you’re an outdoor holiday decorator, neighborhood focus will be on your house.  Now might be a good time to spruce up the exterior paint job.  Even custom painting your trim can help your home look like new for Santa and his reindeer.  If you’ll be throwing an annual holiday party, or hosting the extended family, now might be a good time to think about custom painting a room or two in your home.  A new coat of wall paint can go a long way towards improving overall home appeal. You can finally select those custom paint colors you’ve been thinking about for years.

wall paintA Fresh Look For Displaying Holiday Cards
Have your local hardware store cut a piece of smooth plywood to a shape that will fit an existing wall space in your home. You can use this display above the fireplace mantle, or to seasonally replace a piece of artwork currently hanging in your home. Buy custom paint(s) in rich holiday colors: deep reds, lush forest greens, or shimmering golds are great colors to start with.  Paint one side, and the edges, of the plywood  and allow it to dry. Using ribbon, string, or yarn, in a contrasting holiday color, attach each end to the back of the plywood with the string horizontally across the painted surface. Use the ribbon to drape cards side-by-side along their folds and, voila!  You have a holiday decoration that beautifully displays your holiday cards from friends and family.

Homemade Tree Ornaments
There are all types of ready-to-paint ornaments that you can purchase at craft stores.  With a few brushes, small containers of custom paint, and a good imagination you can decorate ornaments for your own tree, give them away, or tie them to the tops of holiday gifts for added cheer.
