The Paint Quality Institute recently launched its Color Décor application that is available for free download. You can access the app by visiting www.paintquality.com and clicking on the Color Décor app. This app can help you understand the basics of color and assist in selecting paint colors. The app includes numerous room visuals and easy-to-read information and an overview of decorating with color.

Other apps that Atlanta’s Paint Doctor likes include:

Benjamin Moore Color Capture: Take a picture of any color inspiration that catches your eye and instantly get its match from Benjamin Moore’s more than 3,300 paint colors. Click ‘strip’ for six similar colors or ‘harmony’ for four complimentary colors. Free.

Color Change: Take a photo of a room and then paint the walls, floors, ceiling, or trim any color you can imagine. Then you’ll know if you will really like your bedroom painted honeysuckle. $2.99

ColorSnap by Sherwin Williams: Focus your camera on a spot on your upholstery and ColorSnap will find a match and suggest two complimentary colors. You can also create a custom palette, fine tune colors and browse shades and hues. Free.

PaintSwatches: You’re ready to take on that living room redecorating job, starting with walls and trim. But which colors look good together? This app organizes and simplifies the color-picking phase of your job. First you create a page called, say “living room”. Then you touch the screen and choose from thousands of paint colors from six manufacturers, all displayed in a scrolling palette. Once you’ve chosen colors, you drag the paint chips to a work area on the screen, where you can move them around and see which ones look best together. $1.99
